The flag of the United States of America. The Foertschbeck family emigrated from Germany in the late 19th century. Other of John's ancestors (Bosman's in particular) have been here since colonial days.

The German National Flag. Many of John's ancestors emigrated from Germany, almost all from Bavaria - Some of the family names are Rockstroh, Betch (Betsch), Ahles, Simmont

The Maryland State Flag - John's ancestors have a rich history in Maryland specifically Baltimore.

The Franconian (Franken) State flag. The Foertschbeck family emigrated from the town of Neufang in Upper Franconia (Oberfranken). Other Neufang families who settled in the Baltimore area include: Kotschenreuther, Foehrkolb, Baetz, Wiedel, among others.
